A true-blooded Filipino, Eric, as he is often known to close friends, is a poet in his own right. Most of his poetry had been published in both the local and international journals and had been the recipient of numerous accolades. An Agricultural Chemist by profession, he finished his bachelor’s degree at the University of the Philippines; had postgraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the Universite’ de Nancy (France). He had also completed courses in Laboratory Instrumentations (Barcelona), Computer Programming and Electronics. He underwent Brewing Technology, as well as Microbiology trainings in Berlin, Munich, Reading (England), and Lerida (Spain) and was appointed Research Director and Brewing Manager of a local brewery firm (prior to his retirement in 2004). Some of his research/technical works had been published and presented in several brewing conventions held in the Philippines, Europe and Australia.
