The future of democracies ?

Passionate about history, hence naturally interested in political science and international trade, Erick de St-Preux emigrated several times and has lived for over 40 years as an immigrant, facing many social and cultural adaptations. This cultural heterogeneity has enriched his reflection. His numerous professional and leisure trips led him to write many travel diaries. This hobby deepened his sense of observation and his reflection on diverse ways of living and thinking. Invited to animate university courses in international trade, the author practiced the synthesis of years of reflection. Professionally involved in "Eastern Europe", countries subjected to totalitarian regimes for several decades, Erick discovered the communism, an ideology supposed to have been conceived for "the good of the peoples"! This reflection took on a new dimension by working in Asia where the similarity / opposition in Japan-China duality can only lead to analysis. The progress towards more freedoms in China after the 2008 financial crisis, was shattered by the arrival of Xi Jinping "Imperator" to power, calling into question Erick’s belief in the ineluctable strength of democracy. Militarist and imperialistic Japan of the 1930’s and today’s Imperialistic Chinese economy, are using same mechanisms of totalitarianism which, in essence, is confrontational. Will a “worst than Pear Harbor” happen ? Will J.Biden show the same determination as F.D. Roosevelt ?
