Janis I. Monroe grew up in a country setting on the outskirts of Watertown, NY. It wasn't until a third grade teacher took her aside and told her what a wonderful job she had done on writing a short story involving a space creature that she realized how talented she was as a writer, but she was young then and didn't have any prospects in a writing career. In eighth grade things began to change as creative writing assignments increased. First, it was poems and then short stories and with each, she revived good grades and her teacher was impressed by her work. Inspiration then began to flow and from then on, Janis thought more seriously about a writing career and began seriously writing short stories, poems, and lyrics. Today, Janis continues to evolve as a writer and has advanced from poetry, short stories and lyrics, into the more challenging work of creating novels.
