I am interested in how absence shapes both everyday experience and impression. My work explores the landscape from childhood memory: long highways, repeated patterns, and stretches of feral terrain. I am drawn to neglected areas where hard edges soften and are obscured by atmosphere. I started this body of work in 2023 by observing the sky for a solar year. During that time, I grew increasingly frustrated by what obstructed a public view of the sky. This led me to enact absence through the erasure of man-made obstructions, shifting focus to the living world. My ongoing body of work comprises watercolors and monotypes on paper. These works include overpainted stream-of-consciousness prose and use a limited palette explores themes of dream and memory. The works are left untitled and signed on reverse to provide ample space for viewer interpretation.
