Dr Kurt Brereton is an Australian visual and digital media artist and creative arts academic. Brereton has authored a number of critical books, magazines and artists' books. Brereton has also curated a number of major exhibitions and lectured at various universities in Australia. His book Hyper-Taiwan: Art, Design, Culture was published by Art & Collection in 2005. A monograph Luscious (Mountain Lake, NJ, USA) followed in 2008. In 2010 Brereton co-edited Coalcliff Days (Jellied Tongue Press), an anthology of leading Australian poets and artists who gathered at the coastal village of Coalcliff from 1979 - 1982. His last book was Test Results: Virality and Art (2015). It is a critical reading of contemporary art as a virus within the social and cultural body. Also showcases his performance paintings (Nowra Regional Gallery) documenting his 12 months of anti-viral therapy for Hep C. He is currently writing a biographical novel titled Nowhere Creek - published in Dec. 2016.
