Like most, I am a dreamer. I am not a professional mountaineer. Rather, I am a veterinarian by trade, but most importantly a father and husband. There is a phrase: "If you don't climb the mountain you can't see the view." Climbing Everest was the culmination of a 12-year dream and with just three years of preparation. Living in northeast Wisconsin doesn't provide for high-altitude living and training. Just like the Little Blue Engine reaching one's goals is truly mind over matter. I think I can I think can I think I can! I hope you enjoy reading this inspirational adventure of why I wanted to climb Everest, the events that took place on the mountain like honoring my late father by spreading some of his ashes at the top of the world, and how the trip has reinforced within me the importance of friendship, life's fragility, and the importance of giving back to people who positively impact life's path.
