Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, LaTonya is the second oldest of four children. Overcoming several obstacles throughout her childhood, LaTonya managed to graduate from high school on time and with honors. She received a full ride to the college of her choice as a Merrill Lynch and National Urban League, “ScholarshipBuilder: Class of 2000.” As an adult, LaTonya moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend college at Georgia State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She started her family here and has made it her home. Becoming a mother has been one of LaTonya’s most cherished times of her life and she attributes many of her successes to her four daughters. Never forgetting her roots, she travels back to Michigan to keep her grounded and visit her loved ones. Throughout her life, she always enjoyed writing, Poetry has become a way for her to express herself. Writing is her muse in many different joys and challenges throughout her life. She finds peace and comfort in writing and hopes that some of her work inspires others to live their own truth, express themselves in whatever form of creativity they possess, and for others to be inspired by her work. Her goal is to move forward in her life, despite some of her trials and be victorious in her future. Her love for family and her deep roots in her faith, keeps her strong in her daily life journey.
