Marie Delgado Travis
MARIE DELGADO TRAVIS is very proud of her Nuyorican (native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent) roots. She has earned Masters Degrees in Literature, Law and Fine Arts. Marie has received numerous awards for her work in English and Spanish, Poetry and Prose. These include two Honorable Mentions, International Latino Book Awards (2007 and 2008) in the Best Poetry Book categories in Spanish and English, respectively. She was named Juried Poet, Houston Poetry Fest (2007 and 2009). Her poem "The Window" won Second Place in the international Tom Howard Poetry Contest (2005). Her work appears in MUJERES CON VOZ PROPIA: Antologia Guiada (2018), PRENTICE HALL LITERATURE FOR NINTH GRADE: Texas Editon (2011), CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE LATINO SOUL (2005) and its Spanish translation, SOPA DE POLLO PARA EL ALMA LATINA (2008) and in ACROSS THE LONG BRIDGE: An Anthology of Award-Winning Poetry (2006), among others. She was named "Author of the Year," Houston Hispanic Book Festival (2010).
