About
Marilyn Robb
Marilyn Robb grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and enhanced her life experiences through temporary residencies in the USA and Aruba. She taught for more than 40 years, starting off as a secondary school science teacher and ending up teaching at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. Marilyn’s parenting journey coincided with her educational experiences. She was compelled to add parenting education to her expertise, and so over the past 40+ years she has been parenting her two children, leading parenting workshops, and counselling families. While working with parents and educators, Marilyn became painfully aware of the 'missing piece' in education- Social and Emotional Learning. To fill some of the needs of parents, teachers, and students that were not being met in the schools she founded 'A Joyful Place' - An Education and Family Resource Centre in Trinidad and Tobago. Her passion for Social and Emotional Learning and the emotional and mental well-being of students, teachers, administrators, and parents motivated her to lead workshops, conduct training, and present at educational and parenting conferences around the Caribbean, the US, Europe, and Australia. Marilyn’s life challenges allowed her to develop a deep understanding of people and a sense of justice and fairness which is infused in her work. Her belief is that with careful emotional and mental support we can all have the enriched and meaningful life that we deserve.
