John Higgins is a former British Council officer and language teacher. As a retirement project he undertook to revive interest in the work of Victor Canning, a sorely neglected writer, which he does through his website, www.victorcanning.com, and by re-issuing (with permission) many of his short stories and early novels. He is also making a comprehensive list of minimal pairs and homographs in English.
