Marsha Burris taught ancient and medieval history at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte until her retirement. Marsha’s most recent book, The Polished Moon, is a fictional account of the true story of Dorothy Chinnis’ U.S. Army Nurse Corps experience in Europe during the Second World War. The book is based on the diary Dot kept throughout her deployment. American nurses is the subject more fully explored in Marsha Burris’ historical monograph Paradox of Professionalism: American Nurses in World War II. In Miracles All Around Me: The Unexpected Gifts of My Mother’s Alzheimer’s, Marsha shared an affectionate and candid account of caring for her mother who had early onset Alzheimer’s for the last decade of her life. Marsha currently lives in her beloved hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.
