About
Mieke Doornick

Mieke Doornick is a therapist, clinical sexologist, and the creator of JoyPop Journals—a colorful little corner of life where reflection meets creativity. When her husband, JC, was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer, creating JoyPop became a welcome escape. Between appointments, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of loving someone through cancer, choosing colors and dreaming up prompts gave her something joyful to pour herself into. Gratitude took on a deeper meaning, too: a laugh together, a thoughtful message, an ordinary afternoon. Those small moments helped shape JoyPop into journals that make room for both the hard stuff and the good. South African-born and based in Connecticut, Mieke brings her experience as a therapist, wife, mom, and human figuring things out to every journal she creates. Her hope is to offer you what creating JoyPop has offered her: a little breathing room, a spark of joy, and space to be yourself. Messy handwriting welcome.
