About
kristin stevenson

I am a Texan writer and painter currently living in Rome with my British husband and two culturally confused children. While in my writing I am interested in blurring boundaries between genres, in my painting I am interested in the spaces in the margins. Perhaps in both my writing and my painting I am seeking out where and why the lines are drawn, and how lives can be divided by seemingly arbitrary divisions. In my fiction I rely heavily on memoir, autobiography, biography, blending them all with fictive elements that enhance the stories. I have been greatly inspired by the works of Marilynne Robinson, Alice Munro, Mavis Gallant, and Margaret Elphinstone (to name a few), all of whom are writers who seem to understand that the boundary between what we call fiction and non-fiction is a slippery one.
