Pauline C. Bell
I research and write up history related to the City of Sheffield, UK However my choice of subject always has roots in my family history so I have published conventionally two books. 'Made in Sheffield the story of James Dixon and Sons, silversmiths' for whom six generations of my ancestors worked and'Forging History, the story of George Barnsley and Sons, toolmakers'.The firm was started by my 2x great grandfather Charles Barnsley with his brother George who gave his name to the firm. Somewhere Charles lost out but his sons were filemakers in the firm and the Barnsley name can be found in Sheffield manorial records. Solid Silver is about the Leclere family into which my great aunt married and her son Eugene Leclere had an amazing WW2 history in the Navy and in his private life. The Alfie John Bell book is a bit of family history linked to pictures taken on June 25th 2007 Alfie's date of birth and when Sheffield experienced the terrible flooding that brought the City to a standstill.
