I received my Doctorate in February 2003 at the grand age of 52 and have lectured on North American history and Civil Rights at the Department of Humanities, University of Central Lancashire, as well as the historiography of American slavery at the University of Chester. For the Open University I have tutored the Level 1 'Introduction to the Humanities' since 2006. I also teach the Level 3 'Empires' course for the OU now in its 6th presentation and Level 2 'Exploring History 1400-1900'. My main area of expertise is the Caribbean State–Church education system within Imperial history. Since early 2006, my research interests have been in transition, returning to local and regional history, specifically the role of schools and literature in marketing the empire. I am currently working towards a paper and article on this subject. I also serve as examiner for the OU I have published two articles with History of Education, History of Education Researcher.
