Johannes R. Malan (1966 - ) was born near Cape Town (South Africa). Both his parents are from French Huguenot descent. He grew up in the district of Oudthoorn. He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1993 with a Masters Degree in Clinical Counselling. During his studies he did numerous hours of pastoral care within mental health institutions and hospitals and received regular supervision to improve his counselling skills. He served as a minister till 2003 in a mainline Afrikaans speaking church in South Africa. In 2008 he became a minister at a liberal church that endorse religious freedom and tolerance. He also became a Certified Life Coach with New Insights Africa in 2006. He has been coaching clients since then. He published his first book in April 2012
