Jim, an Ulsterman born and reared studied at the University of Ulster and the University of Edinburgh. Growing up in a rural community he had the freedom to spend many happy hours exploring his surroundings and observing the goings around him but not always interpreting what he observed correctly - but that's another story. His venture into the genre of fiction surfaced in 2016 when he won the Short Story category in the Larne Museum and Art's Centre's 7th Annual Art Competition. He won it again in 2017 and in 2018.
