About
Valli Schieltz

Sister Mary Josepha was born Valli Louise Dennis on March 3, 1951. On October 23, 1968 she was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith. On August 22, 1969, Valli decided not to attend nursing school and entered the Carmelite Monastery taking the name Sister Carmen Marie. This book is a reflection of her life as a nun. "I had not been at Carmel very long before I began to feel overcome with extreme fatigue. Even when I was in line to go and pray in the chapel or to participate in the Mass, it felt like I was being blown-away with an even bigger onslaught. While I knelt down and waited to enter the chapel, all of us were given the signal to kiss the floor. This was viewed to be an act of humility in the Eyes of the Lord. For me, Sr. Carmen Marie, this was sheer torture! My head and neck felt like they were on the verge of exploding! I knew I would have to go to the Mother Prioress for help. She immediately called the doctor." Valli passed away on the morning of June 29, 2015.
