About the Author – Ebony Maynard, APRN Ebony Maynard (APRN-FNP) is a dedicated clinician, wellness mentor, and advocate whose mission is to give voice and power to individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and their families. With over a decade of clinical experience spanning neurology, intensive care, home health, rehabilitation, and family medicine, Ebony brings a rare blend of deep medical expertise and heartfelt compassion. As a military veteran and former law-enforcement officer, Ebony made a conscious decision to go beyond traditional care models. She became a dual-board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, choosing to specialize in areas where she felt patients were too often unheard, especially in underserved communities and among those living with SCD. At the helm of EM Healthcare & Associates, which she founded, Ebony leads a team committed to integrative, patient-centered care. Their approach addresses the full spectrum of health - physical, emotional, and social -for individuals facing chronic disease and health disparities.
