About
Robert Todd Carroll
I was a full-time teacher in the philosophy department at Sacramento City College from 1977 until my retirement in 2007. I started The Skeptic's Dictionary website (www.skepdic.com) in 1994. It has grown from a few dozen to over 700 entries. "The Skeptic's Dictionary" was published in August 2003 by John Wiley & Sons. My textbook "Becoming a Critical Thinker" was published by Pearson in 2000. A second edition was published in 2005. "Unnatural Acts: Critical Thinking, Skepticism, and Science Exposed!" is an introduction to critical thinking aimed at a general audience. "Mysteries and Science: Exploring Aliens, Ghosts, Monsters, the End of the World and Other Weird Things" grew out of a project called "A Skeptic's Dictionary for Kids." "The Critical Thinker's Dictionary" is an exploration of critical thinking and the cognitive biases and illusions and logical fallacies that constantly challenge anyone trying to live a rational life.
