Kyle Coughlin
Dr. Kyle Coughlin has been teaching students of all ages and abilities for over 25 years. In that time he has made a careful study of music pedagogy, and his primary goal is to help students learn music in ways that are effective, efficient, creative, and fun. He has written and published eleven educational books, ten of which are for woodwinds, including the Beginning Clarinet Songbook, Beginning Jazz Studies for winds, and duet arrangements of Christmas songs for winds. Coughlin earned both his doctorate and masters degrees in music from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his bachelors degree at the University of Maryland in College Park. Coughlin’s primary instruments are the clarinet and saxophone, and he has performed throughout the United States, as well as France and Italy. He is a full-time faculty member at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland, where he is coordinator of jazz, winds, and percussion.
