Tom Docherty is originally from Fife in Scotland but now lives in Moray. He joined the RAF in 1978 and served for a number of years in the Air Traffic Control branch before transferring to the Air Loadmaster branch. Tom spent six years on Chinook helicopters in England, Germany and in the Gulf during the 1991 Gulf War. Following this Tom transferred to Wessex and then Puma helicopters in Northern Ireland for nearly 10 years and is still serving at the time of writing. Tom’s first book, Training for Triumph, a history of WW2 RAF flying training was published in 2000 and was followed in 2002 by Hunt Like a Tiger, a WW2 history of No 230 Squadron. Tom’s third book Ours To Hold – RAF Aldergrove at War 1939-45 had a short print run in 2004 before being republished in this edition by Old Forge Publishing in 2008. His fourth and fifth books, Dinghy Drop – No 279 Sqn at War 1941-46 and No 7 Bomber Squadron RAF in WW2 were published in 2007.
