Traettiana – Independent Publishing

Traettiana – Independent Publishing is an independent publishing house dedicated to the study, preservation, and dissemination of music and scholarship related to the Neapolitan School, a historic center of musical training in Naples that attracted musicians from across Europe. The editorial takes its name from Tommaso Traetta (1727–1779), a distinguished composer and opera reformer who studied in Naples and later brought the innovations of this tradition to major European courts and theaters. Throughout its history, the Neapolitan School nurtured not only composers such as Alessandro Scarlatti, Domenico Scarlatti, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Niccolò Jommelli, Leonardo Leo, Francesco Durante, Antonio Sacchini, Niccolò Piccinni, and Nicola Logroscino, Giovanni Paisiello, but also celebrated singers who became international stars, including figures like Farinelli and Caffarelli. Together, these musicians disseminated the stylistic principles of the Neapolitan tradition across Europe, laying the foundations of Baroque and Classical music. Traettiana publishes high-quality essays, facsimiles, musical scores, recordings, and historical literature, including materials that may have influenced or inspired these artists. Its mission is to provide resources that illuminate the artistic, cultural, and historical context of the period, offering a broader understanding of the forces that shaped European music and its creators.
