Carolyn King

Born in Tunbridge Wells, England, Carolyn emigrated to New Zealand in 1971, and has worked there ever since. Her two best-known books are The Natural History of Weasels and Stoats (1989, 2nd edition 2007) and The Handbook of New Zealand Mammals (1990, 2nd edition 2005), both from Oxford University Press. She is a senior lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences at Waikato University (Hamilton, New Zealand), and a Research Associate in the Department of Philosophy. Her book Habitat of Grace was published by the Australian Theological Forum (2002). She teaches zoology at Waikato, and lives in a country house outside Hamilton with her husband, Ken Ayers. Her latest project, a trilogy about the life of the poet Katherine Watson (1918-2008), is published by www.walrusbooksco.com.
