About
Daniel Yaryan

Daniel Yaryan (born January 24, 1972) is an American poet-author, editor, event producer, and graphic designer. He is best known as the creator of the long-running Sparring With Beatnik Ghosts multimedia event series and literary anthologies. This prompted Los Angeles poet Wanda Coleman to describe Yaryan as "one of the new generation of poetry mavens," in an article for Poetry Foundation. Yaryan is the founding publisher of the Mystic Boxing Commission (MBC) imprint. He publishes avant-garde and counterculture books, such as works by novelist Jerry Kamstra, including Weed: Adventures of a Dope Smuggler (illustrated new edition of the first novel by Kamstra--also known for his second novel The Frisco Kid). Yaryan is the poet-author of the illuminated Sorcerers: Through Dimensions Infinite (MBC, 2020), a collaboration with fantasy artist Fitz (Mat Fitzsimmons). The large, full-color, hardcover edition is considered "the first full volume of cosmic pulp poetry," according to Los Angeles poet Nelson Gary. Yaryan is editor/designer of the Sparring With Beatnik Ghosts Omnibus: Deluxe Edition (Vol. 1: Michael C Ford Edition, MBC 2022) as well as seven other Sparring With Beatnik Ghosts anthologies (published from 2009 to 2012 under the SWBG label). The Sparring with Beatnik Ghosts (SWBG) anthologies are part of several special collections throughout the U.S. For more information on SWBG, go to: www.sparringartists.com
